DAA Begins Recruitment for T2

More than 500 New Jobs To Be Created At Dublin Airport

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) is to create more than 500 new jobs at Terminal Two, Dublin Airport’s new passenger terminal, which will open in November.

Recruitment for staff to operate the new terminal will begin immediately following the Minister for Transport’s confirmation that the DAA will operate the new terminal.

“We are delighted to have been given the go ahead to operate Terminal Two and will continue to focus on putting the customer first and operating T2 as efficiently as possible,” said DAA Chief Executive Declan Collier.

The 500 new staff will be responsible for all passenger services and facilities management at T2. The new employees will be involved in tasks such as security, cleaning, customer service, and passenger processing.

Terminal Two, which has been designed to handle up to 15 million passengers per annum, will transform the passenger experience at Dublin Airport, when it opens to the public in November. T2 has been designed to suit passenger needs and uses natural light throughout to improve the travel experience. “We look forward to welcoming passengers to their new terminal,” Mr Collier added.

T2’s main construction phase is now effectively complete and the DAA has started to commission and test the new facility. As new employees for T2 are hired, the training and trialling regime for T2 will build into full-scale passenger trials and test flights before the terminal opens in November. The DAA is also seeking volunteers for its full-scale trials later in the summer.

The Terminal Two project includes a new passenger terminal, a boarding gate area with parking for up to 19 aircraft, a new US Customs & Border Protection Facility (CBP), a new energy centre, and major improvements to Dublin Airport’s campus road network.

In total, more than 1,000 new positions will be created through the opening of Terminal Two, as apart from the 500 new jobs in operations, as previously announced there will also be about 400 new jobs created by the retail and catering outlets in T2. The 900 jobs are full time equivalents, but given the nature of airport operations the total employed will be well over 1,000 as the jobs will be a mixture of full and part-time positions.

Details of the new vacancies are available at www.daa.ie or by telephoning 01 8955715 and the recruitment process is now underway.
