Television gardener Diarmuid Gavin is to design a roof terrace for the airside bar in the Terminal One Extension at Dublin Airport.
The bar/restaurant will have seating for 300 people and the 2,500 sq ft roof terrace, which will be designed by Diarmuid Gavin, will be a key feature of the development.
The new bar and restaurant is on the mezzanine level of the €55 million extension to Terminal One, which is due to open in May 2009. The T1X will radically improve the passenger journey to Piers A and D with more circulation space and additional airside retail at the northern end of the existing retail Street at Dublin Airport.
The Thomas Read Group will invest €1.2 million in the new Glas (the Irish word for Green) bar. Thomas Read, which already operates eight outlets at Dublin Airport, won the contract to operate the new bar/restaurant after a three-month tender process.
Interior design company O`Donnell O`Neill Design Associates will fit out the 6,000 square foot bar interior while Diarmuid Gavin’s firm will design the roof terrace. Work is due to start on the new bar in December.
