One of the more visible signals to airport customers and staff that the construction phase of T2 is nearing completion, will be the dismantling of the temporary pedestrian bridge over which thousands of building workers have entered and left the T2 site since late 2007.
From the final week of April, construction workers no longer need the bridge to access the site securely and it will be dismantled slowly through the first week of May.
The bulk of construction activity in T2 will be completed by early May. This will enable the DAA’s Operational Readiness and Airport Transition (ORAT) Programme to operate more freely throughout the building and to plan for the commencement of staff familiarisation and the trialling of equipment and processes, before the end of May.
A comprehensive ORAT programme has been put in place to prepare for the full operation of T2 next November.
