Transforming Dublin Airport

Pier E Construction Underway

Work will begin on the first foundations for Pier E this week.

Pier E is a new boarding gate pier with room for up to 19 aircraft that is being built as part of the T2 project at Dubin Airport. Pier E contractor Hegarty started work on the new pier last week and will begin excavating for concrete foundations within the next couple of days. The construction site for Pier E is currently airside but the entire site will move landside shortly and this will make access easier for both workers and materials.

Pier E will have parking for up to 19 short-haul or eight long-haul aircraft. At 24,000 sq metres, the new boarding gate facility is 60% bigger than Pier D at Dublin Airport. The new pier, which is an integral element of the T2 construction programme, will open to the public in April 2010.
