Transforming Dublin Airport

Buildings Demolished to Make Way for New Roads and Car Park

Two structures familiar to passengers entering and departing Dublin Airport have been demolished to clear the way for Terminal 2's new multi-storey car park and for a dedicated exit road from the new terminal.

The first structure to be taken down was the old boiler house to the right of the airport access road. Built in 1962 to burn peat initially, it was decommissioned three years ago and replaced by more efficient systems.

The second structure, the exit gates to the airport's surface car park, was a two-storey building that spanned five lanes of exiting traffic and sent drivers on their way with the message: "Thank you for visiting Dublin Airport."
