Transforming Dublin Airport

T2 Car Park

The piling of foundations and other preparatory site work for a new multi-storey car park, directly linked to Terminal 2, is well advanced as we head into July.

The three-storey structure will incorporate close to 1,000 short-term car parking spaces for passengers and other visitors to the new terminal and approximately 350 spaces for car hire. It will be linked to the new terminal by a pedestrian bridge over the set-down and pick-up lanes and kerbs.

Nearly 100% of the precast concrete for the new facility is currently being fabricated off-site by Egron, a subsidiary of CRH, at its yards in Tallaght and Bunclody, Co. Wexford.  The pre-fabricated concrete will be brought to Dublin Airport on a just-in-time basis for installation, from late July.  The main contractors, appointed by DAA to the project, Bowen Construction will have up to 100 men working on site at that stage.

DAA has a ten-year planning permission for an additional 1,200 spaces in the Terminal 2 car park and for a 400-bed, four-star hotel on top of this structure. These projects will be reviewed as the wider economy recovers.
